Midwest Easement Services is a family-owned business that maintains and manages rights-of-ways for utilities, pipelines, and railways. They began with just two employees and two machines, and grew quickly in just a few years, today serving clients across the country. The rapid growth created a need for a new facility with offices for their growing staff and storage space for large equipment. The office interior incorporates a rustic design with a reclaimed wood accent wall, beautiful wood floors throughout, earthy paint colors, and a built-in barn wood and stone reception desk. The main shop area has concrete floors, with space for large equipment maintenance and storage.
Forced air heating and cooling from the packaged unit is used for the office space, as well as radiant floor heat from the water-to-water system. The workshop is heated by radiant floor heat. A buffer tank wasn't used to save on installation costs. An outdoor sensor was added to the water-to-water unit to improve efficiency. The shop area is divided into two sections. The back section (7,700 sq ft) is used for dry storage only. The front portion (4,700 sq ft) and office space (3,200 sq ft) are conditioned. The ground loop configuration is a pit-style horizontal racetrack loop.
30% - 70% annual savings on heating and cooling costs.
