This Atlanta-area homebuilder chose GeoComfort because he had installed 15+ geothermal systems around Atlanta, and he experienced the comfort and savings first-hand in his previous home. This home has many high-performance features, including an in-ground heat exchanger and the Rygan HPGX loop; its patented, thin wall pipe, concentric design makes it extremely efficient, and it works well in Atlanta's soil conditions. The pipe's design allows these loops to be installed at a much greater depth than traditional HDPE u-bend loop pipe. The homeowners had a challenging lot due to a stream buffer and were able to use a single bore of approximately 470’ to service the geothermal equipment.
The main floor of the home is serviced by the packaged unit and the upper two floors are serviced by the split system using a Honeywell zone board. This house utilizes Ecobee thermostats for monitoring and control. Exterior walls of the home are 2x6 for added insulation, and there is open cell spray foam at the entire roofline, a galvalume standing seam roof over the garage to reflect as much heat as possible on the western side of house, and a tankless water heater centrally located so that it is no more than 20’ from any of the water fixtures.
